Room Magazine and Massy Books have partnered to create space for Indigenous Brilliance, a quarterly reading series for First Nations, Métis, and Inuit women/2SQ writers to showcase their work and general badassery.

With the great success of our first event held at the 2018 Growing Room Literary Festival, we are excited for announce that our next event will feature Janet Rogers!

Janet Rogers is a Mohawk/Tuscarora writer working in page poetry, spoken word, performance poetry and media and sound arts. Her 6th book of poems will be released this fall (2018) with Bookland Press. She served as Victoria's Poet Larueate from 2012-2015 and is currently the Joy Kowgawa Writer in Residence in Vancouver where she is working on an anthology focused on new stories of the Vancouver area inspired by the original 1911 Legends of Vancouver by Mohawk poet E. Pauline Johnson as told to her by Chief Joe Capilano.

Entry is free and ALL AGES.
Massy Books is an accessible venue.
ASP interpreters available by request.

We will be holding an Indigenous Brilliance event on two more dates in 2018: August 24th, and November 23rd. If you want to read next to Janet Rogers on May 25th or at another event, get in touch with us! We're always looking for more readers!

It is with great respect and gratitude that we hold this and all upcoming Indigenous Brilliance events on the unceded and traditional territory of the Musqueam, Squamish, and Tsleil-Waututh peoples.
