Let’s Talk About Reconciliation: Keepers of the Fire

Location:
Vancouver Public Library, 350 West Georgia Street, Vancouver
Date:
Wednesday, June 26, 2019 - 6:00pm - 9:00pm

Join in for a free screening of Indigenous created films and participate in a discussion about reconciliation curated by Wil George, a Coast Salish poet from the Tsleil-Waututh Nation. After we watch Keepers of the Fire, he will lead an engaging discussion about reconciliation and the resilience of Indigenous peoples.

Let’s Talk About Reconciliation is a series of film screenings organized by public libraries across Canada at which community members are encouraged to engage in dialogue about Truth and Reconciliation. All of the films screened as part of this series are created by Indigenous artists. Each event in the VPL series is curated and led by a member of one of the local Coast Salish First Nations – Squamish, Musqueam and Tsleil-Waututh.

In partnership with the Canadian Commission for UNESCO / Commission canadienne pour l'UNESCO, the Indigenous Matters Committee of the Canadian Federation of Library Associations, NFB, National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation, and Library and Archives Canada.
